Vladislav Markov

"The work is for itself, for the sake of being. Its elements are for themselves. It may be seen as a whole or as parts, but their relation to one another is autotelic. The work is nonverbal. It does not communicate. It does not relate to intellectual structure. It does not relate to the text, which is its own separate entity. Because of this, the closest mental state to the work is the emotion of being as being, looking as looking—not referencing, which is in effect non-living. It is made intuitively and fulfills its purposeful uselessness. The making is not for an end nor is the end a record." - Vlad Markov
